Effective fall prevention strategies at home

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we can support our clients in aging in place… One tool I’ve found particularly useful is the use of non-slip mats and grab bars, which can make a huge difference in preventing falls. I’d love to hear about any other fall prevention strategies or resources you all have come across that might help our clients feel safer at home.

I totally get where you’re coming from! , it drives me nuts when clients overlook simple fixes. I recently suggested adding a raised toilet seat along with those grab bars, and it really helped my client manage transitions better.

Adding motion sensor lights can really help prevent falls at night — one of my clients found them game-changing for navigating their home safely… I also think incorporating regular check-ins can help ensure they’re using the safety measures effectively. Have you tried anything similar, @samantha.e45?

I recently worked with a client who found great success with simple door thresholds; we added a slight ramp to avoid tripping. It’s a small change, but it really helped with their confidence while moving around the house; sometimes the little bumps in the road can trip us up,.
