Yesterday in therapy, I watched a little one use a stuffed octopus as a baseball bat. As funny as it was, it made me think about how creative kids can be with play! It’s such a great reminder that every moment can be a learning opportunity, even if it’s not exactly what we had in mind. Anyone else have funny stories about creative play in sessions? I’d love to hear them.
I once had a kid use a toy train to ‘drive’ their stuffed animals to therapy. It’s such a great example of how imaginative play can be even more impactful than structured activities. > not exactly what we had in mind. Anyone else notice how these moments can lead to unexpected breakthroughs?
It’s wild how these kids can turn anything into a tool for play! Just last week, a kiddo used a feather duster as a microphone — it drove me nuts, but I loved how free they felt in that moment… Sometimes, it’s tough to guide them back to ‘real’ toys, but I guess that’s part of the fun.
