Strategies for Enhancing Daily Living Skills

I’ve been working with several elderly clients who struggle with daily tasks like dressing and meal preparation. One effective technique I’ve found is using adaptive clothing with Velcro closures to simplify dressing. I’m curious if anyone else has insights or resources on similar strategies that could enhance independence for our aging population.

I totally get the struggle with dressing; i’ve had success with magnetic buttons for shirts that make it so much easier for clients. They’re not too expensive, and the difference in independence is amazing.

I’ve seen great success with using meal prep containers to encourage independence in cooking for clients. Having everything pre-portioned really simplifies the process and reduces overwhelm. Plus, adding a label with simple instructions can help those with memory issues, too. @taylor_morris_22, have you tried this approach?

One thing that’s worked well for my clients is using large-print or color-coded labels for kitchen items. It not only boosts independence in meal prep but also helps those with memory issues, too. Have you tried using something similar, @nancyM89?
