The Trouble with Adaptive Sandwiches

Had a hilarious session last week where we came up with adaptive sandwich-making techniques to practice fine motor skills. I brought in some silly-colored tools, and the kids ended up designing the most outrageous ‘sandwich’ art pieces — complete with googly eyes! Who knew therapy could turn into such a creative mess? Anyone else have funny stories from making therapy more playful?

Love the googly eyes idea! We once made pasta sculptures with fruit, which turned into a hilarious edible art show. What’s the craziest combo you’ve seen?

I’ve found that turning ordinary tasks into art projects can be a game changer! Last week, we made ‘sandwich portraits’ using all sorts of toppings — who knew cream cheese could double as hair? @c_hartley91, what’s the wildest edible art your group has whipped up so far?

It sounds like a blast! Adding googly eyes to sandwiches definitely makes them more appealing for the kids. I once used cookie cutters to shape the bread into fun animals — but let’s just say some looked more like abstract art than anything recognizable.
